St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church was asked by McWhirter Elementary if we could donate 10 food bags and gift cards for students’ families for Thanksgiving. McWhirter is a Title I school where about 85-90% of the students are on free and reduced lunch programs. Also, many of these elementary students are homeless. St. Thomas parishioners really stepped up and provided 41 bags of groceries and gift cards, plus about 2 dozen bags of needed items for their food pantry, including bread, potatoes, peanut butter and jelly, tuna, flour, and brown sugar. St. Thomas believes whole-heartedly in giving of themselves to the local community and living St. Thomas’ motto, “We Can Do More Together.”
