We are in the midst of Eastertide, the great 50 days of Easter and we all have something to be thankful for. I am in hopes that those of you who have accepted this challenge are up to date on your readings and that you are into a good routine of daily prayer and study of the scriptures. If you have fallen behind, that is ok, just do your best to catch up or continue to read and be a little behind the others, there is no crime in that! The reward and blessings that we will receive for this endeavor will far outweigh the work put into it. If you have not yet accepted the challenge, now is the time to begin, it is never too late to start to read and study the Word of God.
We will be rounding out the book of Numbers this week and I, like many of you, get lost in the “begats” .. someone begat someone who begat someone and so on. I find myself getting lost in all of the “begats” and it makes me pause to think .. do I really need to know all of this?? The only answer I can offer is a resounding YES! It was included in the Bible, and God wanted me to read it. Not once in my life, not even in my EFM days, can I ever recall anyone really asking me about the “begats”, but I know that this is my fourth time to read them. Is my life any richer for it, well the jury is still out on that, but I am willing to bet that the answer will be yes. In God’s time, I will see that’s richness for my study.
I continue to remain excited as we continue to read the Bible together. Anytime God’s people read and inwardly digest that Bible it is a good thing. We read in Psalm 119: 105 “Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path”. I remember that passage from my many years in Vacation Bible School as a child and they have remained with me all these years.
Let’s continue our quest to read the Bible through the Bible Challenge and feel free to reach out to me with questions or comments about the challenge.
