We are into our second week of the Bible Challenge and I hope you are up to date on your readings. A lot has happened in this first week… creation to Abraham in the OT, and the birth of Jesus to John the Baptist, to the calling of the disciples in Matthew. Hang on, it gets more exciting!
I wanted to take a moment to clarify what the Challenge is. This challenge is personal in nature. Each person who takes it on reads individually each day and there are no meetings or groups or classes. We take the challenge personally, but we take it as a group. Those participating read on their own, but we are reading the same things on the same days as a group. The excitement grows from the reading of the Word and then the sharing of what we discover with others when we come into contact with folks. It is very exciting to read during the week and really get something new and then be able to talk with others who may or may not have picked up the same insight on Wednesday evenings or Sunday’s when we are all together to worship. The power of the Word will grow in each of us as we continue to diligently read and inwardly digest what we read.
If you have not started, it is not too late. We have copies of the daily readings and you can start any time you wish. Some may choose to start this week and just be a little behind while others may choose to start and catch up with the rest of us. Either way, the most important thing is that we are reading the Word of God. As the weeks progress you will see that your personal walk with God will strengthen and you will see our congregation grow and strengthen. Exciting times are in store for us all!
