Saint Thomas the Apostle

Episcopal Church

Wednesday, Feb. 17, was the first in a series of 5 Lenten Book Studies on the book The Gifts of Imperfection by Brene Brown.  There were between 75 and 80 parishioners, school parents, and visitors in attendance!  The evening started at 6:15 pm with a soup and bread supper organized by the Choir and the Episcopal Church Women (ECW).  There was a wonderful choice between chili and/or potato soup with multiple toppings, plus french bread and cornbread muffins.  Fr. Mike Stone began a discussion of the book’s author and and how meeting her impacted his life.  He went on to talk about how important it is to understand the meaning of the major concepts the book delves into and let the group in discussing the difference between empathy and sympathy.  Next Wednesday, Feb. 24, two more ministries will provide soup and bread and the discussion will center on Guideposts #2 and #3.  Please come, just for soup or just for discussion or both but we would love to share fellowship with you!
