Saint Thomas the Apostle

Episcopal Church

Pancake Supper
Tuesday February 9th      5 – 7:30 PM

Sponsored by the Brotherhood of St. Andrew
Tuesday is Fat Tuesday, a day when people traditionally used up their butter and cream ahead of Ash Wednesday, which begins the 40 days of fasting for the penitential season Lent and features the imposition of ashes as a reminder that life is short and we can choose to live it to its fullest if we fast from habits that are not community building and adopt habits that are life giving.  We should consider taking up a new habit that will be helpful for ourselves and others, like cultivating gratitude throughout the day and making it a daily goal to one thing for oand one thing for someone else.  Therefore, the Brotherhood of St. Andrew is hosting a pancake supper before Ash Wednesday to “clean out” the “fat” from the kitchen.  Please come for good fixins’ and good fellowship from 5 – 7:30 pm!
ASH WEDNESDAY SERVICES
Ash Wednesday is Wednesday, February 10 and you may have commitments that make a traditional church service difficult during the week; kids, work, meetings, sports, dinner, homework, etc! St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church in Nassau Bay will be offering Ashes to Go, an opportunity to receive ashes and prayer in a drive through from 11:30 – 1:30 pm, right off of San Sebastian and Upper Bay Rd. Reserve sacraments will be available as well if you wish.
If a traditional service fits your schedule, you are enthusiastically invited to St. Thomas’s Ash Wednesday services at 6.45 am, 8.30 am (the St. Thomas Episcopal School service), and 6:00 pm with a Stone Soup Supper to follow.
For our Stone Soup Supper, please bring a handful of chopped vegetables to add to stock before the 6:00 pm service. After the service, supper will consist of soup, bread, and small sandwiches. We hope to welcome you to St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church for renewal soupand fellowship during this most holy of times. Please contact Cathy Jones at cathy@sttaec.org, or call 281-222-2384 if you have questions.
